Hope College will host the second annual "Michigan Small Private School RA Conference" on Saturday, April 12.

Approximately 100 from eight colleges and universities in Michigan will attend.

The event is geared toward current student resident assistants (RAs) or students who will be serving as RAs during the 2008-09 school year and the students' advisors. The day-long conference will include presentations by students and advisors, roundtable discussions and other networking opportunities for participants in the schools' residential life and housing programs.

The attendees will include students and advisors from Aquinas College, Baker College of Muskegon, Baker College of Owosso, Calvin College, Davenport University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College and Olivet College.

The conference was initiated by and first held at Kalamazoo College in 2007.

This year's conference is chaired by two Hope students: junior Emily Mannenbach of Rochester, Minn., and senior Sara Stevenson of Three Rivers. Mannenbach and Stevenson are each resident assistants themselves, and are additionally serving as members of the Hope residence life program's Student Leadership Team as neighborhood coordinators. They are being advised by staff members Sara Dickey, assistant director of housing, and Matthew D'Oyly, residential life coordinator.
