Hope Summer Repertory Theatre's Children's Performance Troupe began its season June 18 with " Sarah Plain and Tall" by Joseph Robinette, based on the Newbery Award-winning book by Patricia MacLachlan.

This will be followed by CPT's second show, "Petite Rouge, the Cajun Red Riding Hood," with music and lyrics by author Joan Cushing, also writer of HSRT's past favorite "Miss Nelson is Missing" and "Junie B. Jones," beginning July 16.  Both performances are held in the DeWitt Studio Theatre.

"Sarah Plain and Tall," directed by Diana Robbins, tells the story of a willful woman who answers the newspaper ad of a widower, and moves to the Midwest to help him raise his children.  Despite initial hardships, Sarah wins the whole family over with her love, laughter, and cheer.

James Saba directs the hilariously spicy musical "Petite Rouge, the Cajun Red Riding Hood."  Petite Rouge is a duckling who leads a giant gator on a wild chase through the New Orleans swamp with the help of his cat friend Tejean.
