The 2009 Flying Dutch return eight letterwinners from the 2008 squad led by three-time All-MIAA player Samantha Stille, a senior from Holland, Mich. (Holland HS). She is the only senior on coach Karen Page's squad. The pre-season roster includes three freshmen, three sophomores, four seniors and a senior.

Other returning letterwinners are sophomore Katherine Garcia, a sophomore from Battle Creek, Mich. (Battle Creek Central HS); Lucy Himes, a junior from Grand Blanc, Mich. (L.M. Powers Catholic HS); Marissa Kooyers, a junior from Holland, Mich. (Holland Christian HS); Elizabeth Olson, a junior from Ankeny, Iowa (Ankeny HS); Kathryn Sawyer, a sophomore from Batavia, Ill. (Batavia HS); Nicole Spagnuolo, a sophomore from Okemos, Mich. (Okemos HS); and Danielle Werley, a junior from Holland, Mich. (Holland HS).

Freshman prospects include Kristen Marsh of Traverse City, Mich. (Traverse City St. Francis HS), Mia Savagian of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Lahser HS), and Audrey Schultz of Grand Haven, Mich. (Grand Haven HS).

Coach Page begins her 12th season at the helm of the women's tennis program. Her teams have posted an 11-year dual match record of 148-88 and have been 61-21 in MIAA matches. The 2008 Flying Dutch had their best dual match record in nine seasons and finished third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for the second straight year.

The 2008 Flying Dutch were presented the Team GPA Award for outstanding academic performance by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and were honored  by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as scholar athletes.
