Despite out-shooting their opponent by a better than two-to-one margin, the Hope hockey team was defeated by Farmingdale, N.Y. 4-2 Thursday in a second round game of the Division III national tournament of the American Collegiate Hockey Association in Rochester, N.Y.

The Flying Dutchmen fell behind 2-0 in the first period and were within a goal late in the third period. Hope ended with a 47-22 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman Chris Kunnen (DesMoines, Iowa) scored both of Hope's goals with two assists credited to Brett Kopinski (Mishawaka, Ind.)and one to Matt Schrader (Ft. Gratiot, Mich.). Kunnen has scored five goals in the two national tournament games. Goalkeeper Mike Headley (Grand Ledge, Mich.) made 18 saves.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Hope hockey team opened play at the Division III national tournament of the American Collegiate Hockey Association in Rochester, N.Y. with a 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the University of Tennessee on Wednesday night.

The Flying Dutchmen scored three third period goals to erase a 3-2 Tennessee lead. Freshman Chris Kunnen (DeMoines, Iowa) scored the hat trick in leading the Flying Dutchmen to victory. Junior Matt Schrader (Ft. Gratiot, Mich.) was credited with three assists. Also scoring goals were freshman Andrew Haggerty (Novi, Mich.) and junior Brett Kopinski (Mishawaka, Ind.). Also collecting assists were Ryan Kelly (Battle Creek, Mich.), Will Guerin (Lansing, Mich.) and Kopinski. Senior goalkeeper Mike Headley (Grand Ledge, Mich.) was credited with 32 assists.
