Four Hope students will relate their experiences this past year in Morocco, Nantes, Nice and Rennes during a round-table event on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Maas Center conference room.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The speakers will be Lauren Clack, Amy Kamps, Lacie Rawlings and Corinne Schild. The event is organized by the faculty of the French section of the department of modern and classical languages.
° Lauren Clack, a senior from Bloomfield Hills and a pre-med / French dual major, spent six weeks in Nice, on the French Riviera, this past summer with the WashingtonUniversity in St. Louis "France for the Pre-Med Program," a competitive program that accepts up to 22 students in a broad spectrum of health-related fields and special interests. Participating universities have included Brandeis, Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Duke, Hope College, Johns Hopkins, Oberlin, California-Berkeley, MIT, Michigan-Ann Arbor, Virginia, Wisconsin and Yale. Senior Julian Hinson of Eagan, Minn., likewise participated in the program this summer.
° Amy Kamps, a senior from Muskegon, is a French major who opted for an entire year in Rennes, the capital of Brittany.
° Lacie Rawlings, a junior from Ludington who is majoring in international studies with a minor in French, spent fall term '09 with the SIT program in Morocco.
° Corinne Schild, a senior from Valley Cottage, N.Y., and a French / international studies dual major, spent fall '09 in Nantes.
