The Hope College Concert Series will feature Casiotone for the Painfully Alone on Friday, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. at Lemonjello's in downtown Holland.
Admission is free with a Hope College ID, and tickets will cost $4 for the general public and will be available at the door.
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is an eletronica/pop, Chicago-based band and stage-name of Owen Ashworth. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone formed in 1997 and is signed to Tomlab Records - a label also home to acts such as The Books and Deerhoof. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has released seven full-length albums and a slew of EP's.
Casiotone has been critically acclaimed on multiple occasions by the music magazine "Pitchfork," which once described Casiotone's music as "songs you sing to yourself when you have problems too banal to expect anyone else to care about -- which is the college grad's mid-twenties in a nutshell." Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has also had several recording sessions with increasingly popular, Daytrotter Sessions in Rock Island, Ill.
Opening the night will be the bands King Tut, from North Carolina, and Reptar, from Athens, Ga. Both King Tut and Reptar offer an eclectic, indie, experimental pop sound similar to that of Animal Collective, Deerhunter, or Akron/Family.
Lemonjello's is located at 61 E. Ninth St., on Ninth Street at College Avenue.
