Sophomore Danny Detmar of Chesterton, Ind. has been named the pitcher of the week
in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Detmar pitched a complete
game seven-hitter in leading the Flying Dutchmen to a 7-1 win over Kalamazoo, completing
a doubleheader sweep of the Hornets. He struck out nine Kalamazoo batters and walked
two in the contest. Detmar is being honored as pitcher of the week for the first time
in his career.
SOFTBALL -- April 19, 2010
Pitcher Deidra Enochs, a senior from Summerfield, Fla. (Belleview HS), is the MIAA
Pitcher-of-the-Week. Enochs fired three consecutive shutouts in posting a 4-0 record
for the week to lead the Flying Dutch into first place in the MIAA race. She threw
a four-hitter in a 4-0 victory over Calvin, scattered six hits over five innings in
an 8-0 win over Albion, and gave up seven hits in a 1-0 win over the University of
Chicago. Enochs completed the week by going the distance, allowing six hits, in a
4-3, eight-inning victory over Trine. She walked only one batter in 27 innings of
work for the week. Enochs is being honored as Pitcher of the Week for the first time
in her career

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named righthander Robby Poll
its pitcher of the week. Poll, a senior from Grandville (Grandville HS), tossed a
six-hit complete game in leading Hope to a 7-1 victory over Calvin on Monday. Poll,
who is being honored as pitcher of the week for the second time this season, did not
walk a batter and struck out six in running his season record to 4-0 with a 2.89 earned
run average.
BASEBALL - March 29, 2010
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named shortstop Chris
Mattson the season's first Player of the Week. As sophomore from Muskegon (Mona Shores
HS), Mattson went 9-for-13 at the plate for a .692 average in leading the Flying Dutchmen
to a four-game sweep of Olivet to open MIAA play. Mattson scored nine runs, drove
in three more and had two doubles among his nine hits.
