The event, returning after a one-year hiatus, is sponsored by the Born Clinic in cooperation with the college's department of kinesiology.

In addition to the running and walking activities, there will be a health seminar and health fair open to both participants and spectators.

The 3,200-meter (two-mile) prediction walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the DeVos Fieldhouse and travel through the Hope campus. The 10 best predictions, estimating the amount of time the competitor will require to complete the walk, will win a Hope prize package.

Competitive runners will participate in a 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) run beginning at the DeVos Fieldhouse at 9 a.m. and continuing to Windmill Island.  Age group awards will be given for the run (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over).

A health fair display will be featured in the DeVos Fieldhouse from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Dr. Tammy Born, D.O., will present a health-related seminar from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the DeVos Fieldhouse.

A T-shirt will be provided for participants who register by Friday, Oct. 1, but entries will be accepted on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 8 a.m. Competitors may dress and shower at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

The registration fee is $10 for each competitive event. Registration forms are available online at http://myhope.hope.edu/s/425/images/editor_documents/RunWalk.pdf as well as at the kinesiology office in the DeVos Fieldhouse, which can be called at (616) 395-7070.
