Hope senior middle hitter Jacie Fiedler of Richmond, Ill. (Richmond Burton HS), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.

She earned the award after leading the Flying Dutch to five victories last week, including an upset of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Calvin College.

Fiedler produced double-digit kills in every match she played last week, nailing 78 total bombs in the 16 sets she saw action in. She also totaled 19 blocks, 13 digs and four aces on the week, while hitting an efficient .525.

Against Calvin, Fiedler helped avenge a previous loss to the Knights this season by blasting 17 kills, in addition to contributing three blocks, one dig and one ace. For the week, Fiedler averaged 4.90 kills, 1.20 blocks and 6.30 points per set.

This marks the first time an athlete from Hope has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week accolades. The Flying Dutch (18-4), coached by Becky Schmidt, are ranked eighth in the new AVCA poll.
