Hope College will present its annual Concerto Aria Concert on Friday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The concert features students, who were selected through a competition held last November, performing with the HopeCollege orchestra. This year five students were selected to perform:  senior Sarah Ashcroft of Holland; junior Heather Benson of Muskegon; senior John Donkersloot of Zeeland; sophomore Luke Panning of Holland; and freshman James Schippers of Grand Haven.

"All of the competition winners are outstanding students from the HopeCollege music department," said Richard Piippo, who is the program conductor as well as director of the orchestra and an associate professor of cello and chamber music at the college.

To open the program the orchestra will perform the Overture to the opera "Cosi fan tutte," by Mozart.

° John Donkersloot, piano, will then perform the first movement of Prokofiev's "Piano Concerto No. 2."

° Sarah Ashcroft, soprano, will sing "Song to the Moon" from the opera "Rusalka," by Dvorak.

° Luke Panning, violinist, will perform the third movement of the "Concerto in D major," by Tchaikovsky.

° Heather Benson, mezzo-soprano, will sing "Una voce poco fa" from the opera "The Barber of Seville," by Rossini.

° James Schippers, piano, will close the program by performing the first movement of the Piano "Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor," by Tchaikovsky.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
