The department of music at Hope College will present the second annual Hope College Young Artists Piano Competition on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The competition will run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m., with a reception following at 6:40 p.m.

The public is invited to all parts of the competition.  Admission is free.

The Young Artists Piano Competition was open to high school pianists ages 13 through 18 living in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.  The entrants will be performing two or more pieces of their choice totaling 15 to 20 minutes of music.

"We are very excited to welcome these talented young pianists to HopeCollege for this special event," said Dr. Adam Clark, who is organizing the event and is an assistant professor of music at Hope. "The competition serves as a wonderful opportunity for them to develop as musicians, to compete in a professional and collegial environment, and to demonstrate to the public that this art form is alive and well in the hands of this up-and-coming generation."

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
