Athletics
As a member of the MIAA and NCAA Division III associations, Hope College sponsors 22 varsity sports for men and women. The college is home to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship women’s basketball team.

Both Hope College swimming/diving teams have been presented the 2010-11 Academic Award from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

To be eligible, a team must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a four-point scale. The women's team compiled a 3.65 cumulative GPA, second highest among all NCAA Division III women's programs, while the Flying Dutchmen had a 3.23 cumulative GPA to rank 26th nationally among men's programs.

This marks the sixth time over the past decade that both teams earned this national academic honor in the same year.
