The Flying Dutchmen have been picked to finish in the middle of the pack this coming season according to a pre-season poll of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) football coaches. The annual pre-season poll was announced Monday, August 8.

Coach Dean Kreps' Dutchmen have been picked to finish fourth in the seven-team race which is the same place where the 2010 team ended. Three-time defending MIAA champion Trine is the unanimous pick to repeat, followed by Albion, Adrian, Hope, Alma, Kalamazoo and Olivet.

The nation's oldest collegiate conference launches its 114th season of intercollegiate football with a month of non-league games beginning Labor Day weekend.

The Flying Dutchmen begin practice for their 102nd season on Monday, Aug. 15. Hope's season begins Saturday, Sept. 3, at Illinois Wesleyan. The home opener is Saturday, Sept. 10 for the traditional Community Day game against Wisconsin Lutheran.
