The Hope College Concert Series will feature Brooke Waggoner on Monday, Oct. 17,
at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.
Waggoner will headline with a full band, featuring an assortment of instruments including
violin and cello. She will play selections from various albums, including her most
recent offering, "Go Easy Little Doves." Both the album and its predecessor, "Heal
for the Honey," debuted at number one on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts and have
received widespread praise.
"The Wall Street Journal" has said that "Go Easy Little Doves" "embraces a surprising,
unconventional, sophisticated style of pop that veers toward the symphonic... With
specificity and emotional range, the songs transcend the 'atmospheric' genre."
Her debut release, "Fresh Pair of Eyes," was called "one of the most exciting releases
to come out of America in 2007" by the "London Sunday Times."
In 2009, Waggoner won the Nashville Music Award for "NBN Emerging Artist" of the year
and was nominated for an Independent Music Award for "Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter
Album." In 2010, Waggoner released a live DVD of one of her concerts featuring a full
orchestra.
Her music has appeared on numerous TV shows, including ABC Family's "Greek," "Kyle
XY" and "Pretty Little Liars"; ABC's "Grey's Anatomy"; CBS's "Ghost Whisperer"; and
Lifetime's "Army Wives." Waggoner has also been a part of the long-running and award-winning
NPR radio show "Mountain Stage."
