The Hope community can help by voting online as sophomore Israel Moore of Okemos competes in the fourth global Voice of McDonald's singing contest.
Moore is one of only 22 McDonald's employees nationwide named a semi-finalist in the international competition. The three U.S. semi-finalists who receive the most votes from the general public through Wednesday, Nov. 30, will become finalists and win a trip to the McDonald's 2012 Worldwide Convention in Orlando, Fla., in April to compete with other finalists for top honors, including the $25,000 grand prize.
The voting is taking place at www.voiceofmcdonalds.com. The site features the opportunity to watch and listen to videos of the semi-finalists and then to vote.
Voice of McDonald's is a worldwide contest to discover, recognize and reward the most talented singers among the more than 1.6 million employees working in McDonald's restaurants across the globe. All U.S. entrants were required to submit an initial performance video, which was judged in three areas during the first round of competition in August: singing ability (60 percent), creativity (20 percent) and on-camera/stage presence (20 percent).
"This is an incredible opportunity for me and I'm so honored to have been chosen as a semi-finalist," said Moore, who works as a crew person at the McDonald's at 3477 N. Okemos Rd. in Okemos. "Working at McDonald's has given me a chance to grow on so many levels, both personally and professionally. I can't wait to share my passion for singing with a global audience."
Moore is a 2010 graduate of Okemos High School, and the daughter of James and Rona Anita Moore of Okemos. Her activities at the college have included the Phelps Scholars Program and the College Chorus.
