Three Hope students are among the designers with work featured in the "HollyJolly" holiday window contest in downtown Grand Rapids.

Junior Austin De Jonge of Grand Rapids, junior Audrey Schultz of Grand Rapids and senior Kristen Dunn of Grand Haven each designed displays for the event, which encourages the public to view the windows and vote for their favorites.  De Jonge and Schultz together designed the window at Vue Design at 40 Monroe Center, and Dunn designed the window at All City Kicks at 139 South Division.

A total of 47 retail storefront businesses are competing in the window dressing competition.  The windows will be available for viewing beginning the evening of Friday, Dec. 2, following the lighting of the tree outside the Grand Rapids Art Museum at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Voting in the contest will take place online at www.hollyjollygr.com from 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, through Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m.  Two awards will be presented on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m. at the Downtown Development Authority board meeting that will take place at the Grand RapidsCity Hall:  a $500 Juried Award and a $500 People's Choice Award.

This is the first year for the holiday event.  Stephanie Milanowski, who is the Howard R. and Margaret E. Sluyter Assistant Professor of Art at Hope, designed the contest's logo.
