The Hope College “Sundays at 2” recital series will feature pianist Andrew Le, violinist Jennifer Walvoord and cellist Alicia Eppinga on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The concert will feature Andrew Le in an all-Ravel program that includes solo piano works and chamber music. The program will include Ravel’s “Pavane pour une infante défunte, La Valse,” and the “Piano Trio in A Minor,” featuring Walvoord and Eppinga.
Le is head of keyboard studies and an associate professor of piano at Hope. His playing has been described as “individualistic without a trace of contrivance or eccentricity” by critic Harris Goldsmith of the “New York Concert Review.”
Walvoord is an active chamber musician and her piano quintet performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as part of the Millennium Stage Concert Series in 2007.
She and Le, who are wife and husband, are in their third year as artistic directors of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck.
Eppinga has been a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony since 1989. She was appointed assistant principal cello in 1990. She received her bachelor’s in music performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Richard Kapuscinski, and her master’s in music at the Eastman School of Music with Steven Doane.
Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
