Hope College senior Aida Alvarado of Holland is one of 60 finalists advancing to the next round of Challenge Detroit, an initiative to help revitalize the city by attracting innovative young professionals to the community.

Alvarado and the others received the most votes, from among 100 semi-finalists, in the competition via Facebook, a process that continued through Friday, April 13.  She and the other finalists will participate in an interview round in Detroit on Thursday-Friday, May 3-4, from which 30 will be selected to participate in the program.

Challenge Detroit seeks to attract and retain tomorrow’s leaders, uniting them as a step toward energizing the city’s creative and professional core.  For a year starting in September, the participants will be employed with partner companies while also working together in team challenges geared toward benefiting Detroit.
