Hope College has been engaged in a search process since President James E. Bultman announced in May, 2011 his intention to retire. Hope’s Board of Trustees during its spring meeting received a report from the Presidential Search Committee, and has concluded that the search will continue.

As this occurs, the Board celebrates President and Mrs. Bultman’s willingness to continue to serve Hope with an extension for another year of Dr. Bultman’s presidency. Over this time, President Bultman will concentrate upon the successfully progressing capital campaign, A Greater Hope, and also will welcome this autumn what is anticipated to be Hope’s largest-ever incoming freshman class.

Hope’s chair of the Board of Trustees, Mary Bauman stated, “We are thrilled – and blessed – to have President Bultman’s ongoing leadership at Hope for another year. The heartfelt tribute we as the Hope community recently gave Jim and Martie demonstrates our high esteem for both. We as trustees are confident in our search process as reviewed by the Board, and look forward to another successful year in the life of the college with Jim leading us.”
