Post-season honors have been presented to two members of the Hope College softball team for accomplishments on the field of play and in the classroom.

Senior shortstop Brooke Nienhuis of Zeeland (West West HS), pictured above, has been named to the Central All-Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and junior outfielder Laura Tjepkema of Dorr (South Christian HS), pictured left, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team.

Nienhuis has been named to the NFCA All-Region third team honoring NCAA Division III players in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylavnia and West Virginia. This spring Nienhuis was named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference first team. She batted a team-leading .442 and established a conference record for hits (30).

Tjepkema is an education major with a special education emphasis who has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was also named to the All-MIAA first team and batted .358 for the season. The Capital One program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Tjepkema becomes eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
