Ben Rector, with special guest Steve Moakler, will perform at Hope College on Friday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland through the Hope College Concert Series and the student Social Activities Committee.

The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.

Ben Rector and his band will headline the evening. The format provides the energy and excitement of the band while featuring Rector’s skills as a songwriter.

Rector’s talents were first recognized in 2006, when he was the youngest artist ever to win the Grand Prize in the Pop category of the “John Lennon Songwriting Contest.” Since then, he was released four full-length albums.

His most recent album, “Something Like This” was met with great excitement upon its release last year. In its first week, it was rated number-one on the iTunes singer-songwriter page and number-four overall on iTunes.

Steve Moakler will open the night with his own catchy brand of pop-folk. Music City Unsigned has spoken of his “gift for sweet melodies and moving narratives.”
