The department of music at Hope College will host a student quintet concert on Wednesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The quintet,” The Quintessential 5,” has been in existence for four years at Hope, and the concert will be the current group’s last as a quintet, as three of the members are graduating.  The members of the quintet are:  senior Matthew Brown of Flint, horn; junior Thomas Flath of Oconomowoc, Wis., clarinet; junior Kelsey O’Brien of Glen Ellyn, Ill., oboe; senior Christine Springer of Ann Arbor, flute; and senior Jessica Wells of Indian Creek, Ill., bassoon.

Repertoire for the concert includes “Quintet for Winds,” by Carl Nielsen; “Mirrors,” by Dana Wilson; a transcription of Mozart’s “Horn Quintet,” by Matthew Brown; and more.

Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central Hope campus at the former 127 E. 12th Street between College and Columbia avenues.
