The Hope College Concert Series will feature Youth Lagoon on Friday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

Trevor Powers, the man behind Youth Lagoon, began writing and recording his debut album, “The Year of Hibernation” on his own, with only a few instruments and an old Casio machine. When his early recordings started to catch the attention of music bloggers, his career was quickly launched.

While Powers’s debut is considered a lo-fi, soft and minimalistic, his sophomore album, “Wondrous Bughouse,” which earned a “Best New Music” label from Pitchfork, is more grand in scale while focusing on synths and powerful low tones.

Opening for the evening will be Antrim Dells, a Grand Rapids-based band led by Hope College graduate Jacob Bullard.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $5 for Hope College students.  Tickets are available for purchase online at tickets.hope.edu/ticketing, and at the ticket offices in the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center and in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse.  Both offices are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890.

The Anderson-Werkman Financial Center is located at 100 E. Eighth St. and the DeVos Fieldhouse is located at 222 Fairbanks Ave.  The Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. Eighth St.

Doors for the concert will open at 7:30 p.m.
