The Hope College chapter of the Mortar Board national collegiate honor society will be collecting books and funds for Woodside Elementary School during the group’s annual Homecoming book drive on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The chapter will be collecting gently-used K-5 books from noon to 2 p.m. at the “Taste of the South” celebration in the college’s Pine Grove, and from shortly after 2 p.m. through halftime during the college’s home football game at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.

Mortar Board is working through First Book, a national literary nonprofit, to provide new books for the Woodside Elementary, which is a K-5 school in the West Ottawa Public Schools district.  The contributions will enable Woodside Elementary to purchase books from the First Book Marketplace at a deeply discounted price.
