The Hope College Concert Series will feature the Jamaican Queens on Friday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Park Theatre.

The concert will be a “Detroit Showcase” featuring three up-and-coming artists from the Detroit area.

Having recently released their debut album, “Wormfood,” Detroit natives Jamaican Queens have garnered acclaim in the Detroit area and around the country for their unique “odd-pop” sound. “Wormfood” has been deemed “The Coolest Album of 2013” by “The L Magazine” of new York City Jamaican Queens has spent most of the year touring behind the album.

Opening for the evening will be the bands Flint Eastwood and Five Pound Snap. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for regular admission and $5 for students.  Tickets will be sold at the door but are also available in advance at the ticket offices in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse (222 Fairbanks Ave.) and the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.).  Both offices are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890.

The Park Theatre is located at 248 South River Ave., at the intersection at River Avenue and 10th Street.
