The Hope women’s basketball team has been picked to repeat as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion during the 2013-14 season.

The Flying Dutch topped the preseason coaches poll announced today.

Hope claimed all eight possible first-place votes to top the poll with eight points. Coaches could not vote for their own teams. The Flying Dutch shared the MIAA regular-season championship with Calvin last season.

Calvin is second in the poll with 15 points, while Olivet is third with 21. Both teams split a first-place vote.

The rest of the MIAA preseason poll features Adrian (38), Albion (41), Trine (42), Alma (43), Saint Mary’s (51) and Kalamazoo (64).

Coach Brian Morehouse’s Flying Dutch tip off the season on Nov. 15-16 when they played at the North Central (Ill.) Tournament.

The Flying Dutch start league play on Nov. 19 when they travel to Calvin.
