Hope College’s Claire Cooper has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through April 6.
The sophomore from Williamston (Williamston HS) posted a 3-0 record at No. 2 singles for the Flying Dutch at the Midwest Invitational in Madison, Wis.
Cooper is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Cooper recorded singles victories over Denison, Ohio, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3; the University of Chicago, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6; and St. Catherine, Minn., 6-2, 6-1.
Cooper also teamed up with sophomore Anna Garcia of Battle Creek (Lakeview HS) at No. 2 doubles for victories over Kalamazoo, 8-6, Chicago, 8-0, and St. Catherine, 8-4.
