The Hope College football team has chosen three captains for the 2014 season —defensive back Kirby Crook, offensive lineman Joe Droppers and linebacker Cody Lindemulder.

Crook is a senior from Beech Grove, Indiana (Beech Grove HS), who finished third in tackles for Hope last season with 65.

Droppers is a senior from Kalamazoo, Michigan (Portage Northern HS), who is a two-time, All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team Lineman.

Lindemulder is a senior from Mulliken, Michigan (Lakewood-Lake Odessa HS), who earned All-MIAA First Team honors in 2013 and finished second on the team with 75 tackles.

Hope coach Dean Kreps said his team has chosen three outstanding individuals to lead the Flying Dutchmen in the 2014 season.

“Our program strives to develop great students, great athletes and great people. In Cody Lindemulder, Joe Droppers and Kirby Crook, our team has selected three great young men (who) exemplify those qualities,” Kreps said. “I could not be happier with their choices. All three of these guys know that they cannot lead us alone. They know we have other outstanding leaders on our team in all classes and they will do their part in conjunction with the others to make our 2014 season successful.”

Hope kicks off the 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 6, with a non-league game at Monmouth (Ill.).

The Flying Dutchmen’s home opener is Saturday, Sept. 13, against Augustana (Ill.), with the annual Community Day game.
