The Hope College men’s soccer team is ranked in the first national poll of the 2014 season.

Coach Steven Smith’s Flying Dutchmen are 21st in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Preseason Rankings. The Flying Dutchmen were 23rd in the final NSCAA poll of the 2013 season.

Hope posted a 17-5-2 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament last season. The Flying Dutchmen won the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament after finishing in second place during the regular season.

Hope kicks off the 2014 season on Friday, August 29-Saturday, August 30, when the Flying Dutchmen host their annual Cal Bergsma Memorial Invitational at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The Flying Dutchmen North Central (Illinois) College on Friday, August 29, at 7 p.m. and eighth-ranked Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, August 30, at 7 p.m.

Season tickets for 11 Hope men’s soccer games are on sale and cost $40. Individual tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for non-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association students and children under 18.
