Hope College will host a return visit by the Orchid Ensemble on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.

The public is invited.  Admission is free.

The ensemble, which performed at Hope in 2005, blends ancient musical instruments and traditions from China and beyond, creating a beautiful new sound. The Orchid Ensemble has been developing an innovative musical genre based on the cultural exchange between Western and Asian musicians, and has embraced a variety of musical styles in its repertoire, ranging from the traditional and contemporary music of China, to world music, new music, jazz and creative improvisation.

The ensemble regularly tours across North America, giving more than 70 performances every year at concert halls, educational institutions and prominent world, jazz and folk music festivals. Recent appearances include The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Smithsonian Institution’s Freer Gallery.

Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central Hope campus at the former 127 E. 12th St. between College and Columbia avenues.
