The Hope College Orchestra will present its first concert this year on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Chapel.

The public is invited.  Admission is free.

The program will feature works of Benjamin Britten, Gioacchino Rossini, Gustav Mahler, and Bedřich Smetana.

The first work on the program will be the "Simply Symphony" composed by Britten and performed by a small string ensemble. The full orchestra will then perform Rossini’s "Barber of Seville Overture,” Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer,” and Smetana’s “Moldau from Ma Vlast.”

The concert will feature Hope College voice professor, JungWoo Kim, on the Mahler piece, which is a German song cycle. The songs express a painful story of unrequited love.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
