The Hope College women’s and men’s soccer teams have earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 school year.

Hope is one of 198 schools to have both their women’s and men’s teams recognized for the award. Teams must post a team grade point average of 3.0 higher for the school years. 

A total of 869 soccer teams qualified for the award, including 587 women’s and 282 men’s.

The Hope women’s soccer team recorded a GPA of 3.59 during the 2013-14 school year.

Coach Leigh Sears’ Flying Dutch claimed the NSCAA honor for the fifth consecutive time and eighth overall.

The Hope men’s soccer team posted a GPA of 3.02 during the 2013-14 school year.

Coach Steven Smith’s Flying Dutchmen earned the NSCAA award for the second consecutive season and eighth overall.
