Mandy Traversa
Mandy Traversa of the Hope College women's basketball team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week in women’s basketball for games played through January 10.
 
The sophomore forward from Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), came off the bench to average 23 points and 5.5 rebounds in leading the Flying Dutch to a pair of wins that kept Hope in a first-place tie with Calvin atop the MIAA.
 
Traversa set a school record with eight 3-pointers in scoring a career-high 28 points in just 19 minutes of play in an 88-62 victory over Albion, then added 18 points in a 73-64 win over Kalamazoo.
 
Traversa is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
 
Traversa shot 52 percent from the field (15 of 29), 53 percent from 3-point range (10 of 19) and 75 percent from the line (6 of 8) for the week.
