Molly Meyer

Hope College swimmer Molly Meyer has qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

The sophomore from South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS), made the national cut in the 100-yard backstroke with the 15th-fastest time in Division III.

The Division III Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships are March 18-21 in Shenandoah, Texas.

Meyer swam her qualifying time of 56.50 seconds with a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and school-record performance during this month’s MIAA Championships.

The top 100 backstroke time in the nation of 54.99 belongs to Emma Paulson of St. Thomas (Minnesota).

Meyer also will be able to compete in the 200 backstroke and the 100 butterfly at nationals.

This is Meyer's second trip to nationals. As a freshman, she came in 19th in the 200 backstroke and helped the 200 freestyle relay place 17th, the 400 medley relay finish 21st and the 200 medley relay take 23rd

Four Hope divers will attempt to join Adams at nationals by qualifying during this weekend’s zone meet at the University of Chicago: juniors Stephanie Polet of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), and Sarah Sheridan of Richmond, Indiana (Richmond HS), sophomore Jean Luc Miralda of Tegucigalpa, Honduras (Honduras American) and freshman Kevin Franz of Mundelein, Illinois (Mundelein HS).
