More than 100 female middle school students took part in Hope College's free National Girls And Women in Sports Day event at the Dow Center on Wednesday.

Members of all 10 of Hope's women's athletic teams interacted with the participants during an hour of sports game play and activities led by Flying Dutch athletes and coaches.

There also was a pizza dinner with Hope College female athletes from basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field volleyball teams. Every participant received a free National Girls And Women In Sports Day T-shirt and two free tickets to the women's basketball team's MIAA Tournament semifinal game against Kalamazoo.

The 29th National Girls And Women In Sports Day was designed to celebrate the energy and the achievements of girls and women in sports.
