Hope College's Peyton Wells has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Softball Position Player of the Week for games played through April 5.

The senior first baseman from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), hit .462 (12-for-26) with five home runs, three doubles, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and a slugging percentage of 1.231 in leading the Flying Dutch to a 6-2 record for the week.

Wells belted two homers, including a grand slam that put Hope ahead to stay, drove in six runs and stole two bases as the Flying Dutch rallied to beat Trine, 15-10, ending the Thunder's MIAA-record 49-game conference regular season winning streak.

Wells also delivered a walk-off game-winning single in a 2-1, eight-inning nonconference win over Wheaton, Illinois.

Wells is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career.
