Hope College rose to 16th place in the first set of spring Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup all-sports standings for NCAA Division III announced today.

Hope has totaled 423 points to move up among 289 Division III teams who have competed in NCAA national championship events so far this season. There are 440 Division III teams total. Hope was 31st after the final winter standings.

The Directors Cup’ spring rankings include Hope’s 11th-place finish at nationals in women’s golf and 23rd-place effort in men’s golf.

Hope student-athletes have qualified to compete in nine other NCAA championship events during the 2014-15 school year: women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer, softball, women’s swimming & diving, women’s tennis, women’s track & field, and volleyball.

The final Division III spring standings will be released Thursday, June 4. Williams, Massachusetts leads the first set for spring Directors’ Cup standings with 737.5 points.

Hope has been ranked among the nation’s top 100 NCAA Division III programs every year since the program’s inception.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.
