The new Hope College faculty trio, Trio Sospiro, will present its debut recital on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. in the John and Dede Howard Recital Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited.  Admission is free.

Sharing its premiere year with the premiere year of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts itself, the trio includes Hope College faculty members Gabe Southard, flute; Sarah Southard, oboe; and Sarah Bast, piano. Trio Sospiro will be performing three pieces, all titled “Trio for Flute, Oboe and Piano,” by Bill Douglas, Madeleine Dring and Jean-Michel Damase.

Trio Sospiro was part of a commission project with Bill Douglas that resulted in the composition of his trio piece that will be performed. One of the aims of Trio Sospiro is to work with living composers to create new works of music for the instrumentation of flute, oboe, and piano.  In February, the trio will premiere a new work by Dana Wilson, a composer and teacher at Ithaca College.

The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts, which opened with the start of the school year, is located at 221 Columbia Ave., between Ninth and 10th streets.
