The Hope College Concert Series will feature The Tallest Man on Earth at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
Due to strong ticket sales, the event has been moved from the Knickerbocker Theatre, the previously announced venue.
Kristian Matsson, aka the Tallest Man on Earth, is a 29-year-old songwriter from Dalarna, Sweden. The first recordings from the Tallest Man on Earth surfaced in 2006 via a self-titled EP released on the Swedish independent label Gravitation. Matsson followed the EP with his 2008 full-length recording, “Shallow Grave,” an album that drew accolades from the likes of National Public Radio and Pitchfork. Many in North America were introduced to the Tallest Man on Earth on a tour with Bon Iver, including a stop for two shows at the legendary New York City venue Town Hall.
“The New York Times” has described him as “a guitar-slinger rooted in folk, and his songs are troubadour ballads at heart, carrying knotty, imagistic verses.”
In early 2010 Matsson signed with U.S. record label Dead Oceans and announced the release of his sophomore album, “The Wild Hunt.” His shows have sold out venues like Webster Hall in New York City, The Fillmore in San Francisco and Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and he has performed at festivals such as Coachella, Green Man, Roskilde, Pitchfork and Sasquatch.
The Tallest Man on Earth’s most recent release, “Dark Bird Is Home,” is out now on Dead Oceans.
Tickets for the concert are $15 for Hope students, $30 for members of the college’s faculty and staff, and $35 for the community.
Tickets are available at the ticket office in the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.).
