The MIAA Commissioner’s Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 22 sports for men and women. All eight fall sports are tabulated in these standings.

The final standings are determined on the basis of each college's standings in eight of ten sports for men and eight of ten sports for women.

This is the second year of a new Commissioner’s Cup scoring formula introduced in 2014-15 that awards the same number of points to the MIAA champion in each sport, regardless of gender. The points sequence awarded to women is 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 and on the men’s side it is 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2.
