Del Michel, professor emeritus of art at Hope, will add a unique component to a forthcoming orchestra concert at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, bringing the music to life visually through paintings he will create onstage inspired by what he hears.

The concert will take place on Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. in Corson Auditorium at Interlochen.  The event will feature the Traverse City Orchestra with Maestro Kevin Rhodes as conductor and host in an all-Beethoven program that will also include nine talented young pianists performing short works from Beethoven’s selection of piano music.

Additional information is available through the orchestra’s website at traversesymphony.org.

Michel was a member of the college’s art faculty from 1964 until retiring in 2003.  He subsequently moved to Northern Michigan and opened a working studio/gallery in downtown Traverse City.  His works have been displayed in competitive and invitational exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally, and are included in many private, corporate, university and art museum collections.
