Hope College’s Molly Meyer has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Swimmer of the Week for meets through January 9.

The junior from South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS) is honored for the first time this season and the second time in her career.

Meyer received the award after helping the Flying Dutch beat defending MIAA champion Calvin 167-133 in a home dual meet.

Meyer won the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 00.72 seconds and the 200 backstroke at 2:12.56.

Meyer swam the lead leg of the victorious 200 medley relay that had a time of 1:52.57 and the winning 400 freestyle relay that went 3:39.16.

Hope returns to action on Saturday Jan. 16 when the Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen host the Michigan-Illinois Quad at Holland Community Aquatic Center.
