Hope College volleyball player Jamie Rogalski has been awarded a NCAA Women's Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.

The senior from Munster, Indiana (Munster HS) will receive a one-time, non-renewable grant of $7,500.

Rogalski will use the scholarship this summer when she begins pursuing a master's degree of Education and Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington.

The 22-year-old Rogalski said she is humbled being chosen.

"I was really excited when I got the email. I feel real fortunate to have gotten this scholarship from the NCAA," Rogalski said. "It's going to help me prepare for a career in athletics administration."

Rogalski is the 22nd Hope student-athlete to be given a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA. She will graduate from Hope next month after completing a double major of psychology and sociology.

Melinda Larson, Hope's co-director of athletics, said Rogalski is deserving of the NCAA postgraduate scholarship.

"I'm excited for her to continue her education toward a career in athletics," Larson said. "Since completing an internship in the athletic department last semester Jamie has continued to be a valuable contributor in a variety of areas including work at the MIAA swimming and diving championships and preparation for the HOPEYs annual sports awards event.

"Jamie's perspective and input as a student-athlete has been beneficial to our planning and programming and I'm sure she will make similar positive contributions in her graduate school courses and experiences."

Rogalski is grateful for the knowledge and training she has received at Hope. She was a member of the 2014 national championship volleyball team.

"My sophomore year, I had a lot of questions. I was not sure of my career plans," Rogalski said. "I went to a career in sports forum, then getting an internship with Hope Athletics really solidified the career choice for me. Speaking with Melinda, Tim (Schoonveld) and Caroline (Hannema in athletics administration) helped me figure out what I wanted to do.

"I have had a lot of good experiences as a student athlete and intern at Hope. I learned I could contribute to an athletic department, really serve student-athletes and help them develop as strong students and athletes."
