Hope College’s Katie Rietberg and Alexis Thompson have been selected Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Players of the Week for their performances during last week’s league tournament.

The pair helped the Flying Dutch claim the MIAA Tournament title with victories over Saint Mary’s and top-ranked Calvin last week at Calvin. Hope handed Calvin its first loss with a five-set victory in the championship match.

Thompson is the MIAA Specialist of the Week for the second time in her career after averaging 23 ½ digs over two matches.

The senior from Monroe, Michigan (St. Mary Catholic Central) totaled 22 digs against Calvin and aided a Hope effort that limited its opponent to a .100 attack percentage. She had 25 digs against Saint Mary’s

Rietberg is the MIAA Player of the Week for the first time after averaging 15 ½ kills over two matches last week.

The sophomore from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) led the Flying Dutch against Calvin with 16 kills and a .282 hitting percentage. She also recorded seven digs and three blocks. She had 15 kills against Saint Mary’s.
