Hope College’s Erin Herrmann has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for competition during March 13-19.

The senior from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) set a Emory Invitational meet record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while winning the event on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia.

Herrmann’s time of 10 minutes, 50.20 seconds also was the fastest outdoor performance in the event by a NCAA Division III runner this season.

Herrmann finished first among a group of 27 runners. She helped the Flying Dutch finish seventh out of 35 scoring teams.

This is the second time in Herrmann’s career she has been honored in the outdoor track & field by the MIAA.
