Hope College’s Harrison Blackledge is the D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Men’s Basketball Player of the Year for the 2016 season.

The senior forward from Canton, Ohio (Hoover) is one of eight regional players of the year chosen from across the country. He is eligible for All-American consideration. 

Blackledge headlines a group of 15 all-region honorees in the Great Lakes Region and five first-team selections. 

Blackledge is joined on the first team by Ohio Wesleyan guard Nate Axelrod, Mount Union, Ohio guard DeAllen Jackson, Marietta, Ohio forward A.J. Edwards and Hanover, Indiana forward Wes McKinney. 

Blackledge led the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-champion and NCAA Division III-sectional qualifying Flying Dutchmen in scoring this season at 20.0 points while shooting 56.9 percent from the field, including 40.0 percent from 3-point range, and 79.9 percent from the foul line. 

Blackledge was named MIAA MVP earlier this season. Hope finished with a 23-7 overall record, including a 13-1 mark in MIAA play.
