Original research by students on topics ranging from the historical roots of the Black Lives Matter movement, to monitoring of the Lake Macatawa watershed, to changes in political trust in the United States was highlighted during the annual Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Performance on Friday, April 21.

A total of 357 Hope students from 28 departments and programs presented their research on 226 posters, and 912 visitors attended to learn about and discuss the research with the students, reflecting the extent and significance of such activity at the college while also giving the event itself a singular distinction.

“The Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Performance at Hope College is the largest and broadest of any similar event at an undergraduate liberal arts college,” said Dr. William Polik, associate dean for research and scholarship.
