2007 Pre-Season Outlook

2007 Roster
2006 Results

With five returning letterwinners, the 2007 Flying Dutch hope to contend for the championship of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

The end of the 2006 season is something coach Eva Folkert and her players would rather forget. The team was involved in a motor vehicle accident en route to the season-ending conference tournament. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but the team was unable to continue on to play. More than a month later the MIAA ruled that Hope should hold their position in the standings instead of being disqualified. That put the Flying Dutch in sixth among the nine conference schools after fall play. Hope improved its place to fourth at the league’s NCAA qualifier in the spring.

Coach Eva Dean Folkert begins her third season with a pre-season roster consisting of two seniors, one junior, one sophomore and five freshman prospects.

Captain of the team is senior Julie Hoogerhyde of Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Northern HS).

Other returning letterwinners include senior Cassie Hildebrandt of Auberry, Calif. (Sierra HS), junior Prittany Posma of Zeeland, Mich. (Zeeland HS), and sophomore Cassie Sneller of Holland, Mich. (Hamilton HS).

The Flying Dutch will host an invitational at the Macatawa Legends Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 2. League jamborees will be hosted by Kalamazoo, Tri-State and Alma. The conference championship tournament will be held at the Bedford Valley Country Club on Oct. 5-6.
