Flying Dutch Bow in Home Finale (4/6/10)
Just as it reached 5:30 p.m., the sun was shining and the field ready for the Lady Dutch to take on the Grand Valley Lakers in their last home game of the season. Hope started the first half with 9 ground balls, 4 goals with 5 shots on goal, and 4 saves from the goalie (Jeana Longoria). At the second half the Lady Dutch kicked it up a notch with 11 shots on goal, 8 ground balls, 12 saves from the goalie (Shelby Schilling), and 5 goals. Throughout the game goals were scored by Jamie Benjamin, Delilah Clement, Halie Wenhold, Carly Nelson, Courtney Dernberger, Stephanie Skaff, and Maddie Ferguson. The Lady Dutch are headed for their annual tournament this weekend in Wheaton, Ill.
Flying Dutch Play Strong in Loss to WMU (4/5/10)
The Flying Dutch started strong in their match against Western Michigan. Between the two halves, goalies Shelby Schilling and
Jeana Longoria each had 14 saves. Goals were scored by Maddie Ferguson, Liz Burks, Bree McGann, Katie Anderson, Delilah Clement
and Lori Zimmerman. The Flying Dutch played tough and kept their hopes high through the game. Hope will take on Grand Valley State
Tuesday, April 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Van Andel Stadium. Come support the Dutch during the last home game of the season!
Flying Dutch Bow to Central Michigan (4/1/10)
The Flying Dutch fell behind early by five goals but rallied to make a game of it in bowing to Central Michigan University 13-6 on Thursday.
Maddie Ferguson ('13) had three goals while Elizabeth Burks ('12) had two and Jamie Benjamin ('12) added one. The Flying Dutch (1-6) will continue their
season Monday, April 5 at Western Michigan.
Flying Dutch Bow in First Van Andel Game (3/18/10)
Playing their first home game of the season and the first at the college's new Van Andel Stadium, the Flying Dutch were defeated by MIAA rival Saint Mary's 14-10.
Flying Bow at Aquinas (3/16/10)
The Lady Dutch took on the powerful Aquinas Saints which resulted in an unfortunate loss. Sophomore Jamie Benjamin scored one goal in the second half for the team and freshman Maddie Ferguson scored two goals, one in the first half and one in the second. The weather was beautiful and the sun was shining as both teams worked their hardest for a win. The Lady Dutch look forward to their first home game vs. St. Mary's on Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. at VanAndel Stadium.
Flying Dutch Improve in Second Game (3/11/10)
Tied 7-7 at half, the Lady Dutch fell short of a win against the Panthers of Davenport on Thursday, bowing 13-9. Once again, the second half was cut short due to lack of daylight. Liz Burks and Maddie Ferguson had two goals apiece while Delilah Clement,Jamie Benjamin, Kelly Robbins,and Brittany Schimmel each scored a single goal. One goal was let in by a Davenport player after a miscommunication.
Flying Dutch Bow in Season Debute (3/10/10)
Due to snow on the field (shoveled off by Hope and Calvin players and fans), the game was cut short to a 24 minute first half and 9 minute second half. Hope would like to thank their fans for the support and helping hands.
