Visiting Lecturer to Discuss Business Ethics
HOLLAND - Dr. Patrick E. Murphy, a recognized specialist in business and marketing ethics, will present the address "Business Ethics in the 21st Century" at Hope College on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. in room 1000 of the A. Paul Schaap Science Center through the Baker Scholar Lecture Series.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Murphy is the C.R. Smith Co-Director of the Institute for Ethical Business Worldwide and Professor of Marketing in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. He is an invited Fellow of the Ethics Resource Center in Washington, D.C., and is an Academic Advisor of the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics.
His work has appeared in leading journals, and his most recent book, "Ethical Marketing" (with Laczniak, N. Bowie and T. Klein) was published by Prentice Hall in 2005. In 1997 he was named one of the top researchers in marketing for sustained contribution to the field.
Murphy was chair of the Department of Marketing at Notre Dame for 10 years. During 1993-94, he was a Fulbright Scholar at University College Cork in Ireland. Previously, he was a faculty member and marketing department chair at Marquette University.
He holds a BBA from Notre Dame, an MBA from Bradley and a Ph.D. from Houston.
The Hope College Baker Scholars are an elite group of business students who plan a career in business or future graduate business studies. The intent of the Baker Scholars program is to provide the students with learning experiences and opportunities outside the normal curriculum of the college. The students are selected based on their potential as future leaders of America's organizations and institutions.
